Hi, I'm Sara- welcome! I opened Artworks in January 2014 while still teaching high school art full time. I retired in June of 2020 after 30 years of teaching art at the elementary, high school, and college levels! I invite you to come and make some art with us, forge some new connections, make friends, make stuff, have fun, or attend an expressive arts therapeutic healing session. About Me I was born in Brighton, England and lived there for 5 years before my parents moved to Belgium. I attended the same International school in Waterloo, Belgium from Kindergarten to 12th grade! I went to college in Paris for nearly two years before moving to the US. I live in Jacksonville, NC with my husband and have five children and one dog. I am an avid reader. I also love to travel and explore new places. I enjoy mixed media arts such as journaling, altered books and collage. I can honestly and gratefully say that art is my passion. I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Art History. I hold Art Education certification and a Master’s degree in Art Education from East Carolina University and am Nationally Board Certified. I have taught online and face-to-face Art Appreciation courses for East Carolina University, Coastal Carolina Community College and the NC Virtual Public School. I am a Therapeutic Arts Facilitator with a Level Two Expressive Arts Therapy certificate. I am SO grateful for the chance to share my love of art with amazing creatives and warm loving people! Peace and happy, healthy blessings to you all. |
