I didn't know that my high school art students wouldn't get to finish this sculpture, based on the art of glass artist Dale Chihuly.  Covid happened and then I retired.....

But now we are creating another tree at Artworks.  I am calling it the Resilience Tree. Our tree will be created from plastic bottles, proving that recycling and beauty can grow into something beautiful!

Trees nurture us, they provide shelter, they stand tall in the face of adversity, they give us a helping hand. They remind us that we need to branch out and share with others. They remind us that after winter and death can arise spring and rebirth.  Hope. Beauty. Strength. Resilience.

You're invited to help us build the Resilience Tree!  All you need to do is use a Sharpie to color any water or soda bottle, or a bottle that is thin enough to be easily cut up.  We are using cool colors only, so you'll need to use shades of purple, blue, and green.  You can cut the bottle or we can do it for you.  You can drop your creations off at Artworks any Friday or Saturday between 12 and 4.

We will be constructing the tree on April 23rd to celebrate  Earth Day.  Join us between 12 and 5pm to help us create the tree, decorate or cut bottles- OR feel free to drop off colored bottles anytime between now and April 23rd!

WHAT THEN?  We'd like to send the tree around the county to be displayed!  If you're interested in hosting the tree for a month or two, please email and let me know!
