Art Instructor: Kristen
Hi, I’m Kristen! I am an artist and instructor, from San Antonio, Texas. I’m new to Jacksonville, so here is a bit about me!
I decided to study art in college on a whim, since it has always interested me and it was the best decision I’ve ever made! In May of 2020, I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art and a minor in Art History from the University of Texas at San Antonio. During my time in the art program, I studied a variety of fine art mediums such as oil painting, drawing, digital art, sculpture, and more. I also had the honor of exhibiting some of my work in shows and was featured in an international art magazine. While finishing my degree, I worked at a local art studio and taught children and adults for about 2.5 years. I fell in love with instructing and sharing my love of art with other people of all ages. I also gained experience with even more mediums while working at that studio, such as clay, watercolor, and acrylic. In September of 2021, I was ready for a change and moved to London, England to pursue my Master of Arts degree in Art & Design in Education at University College London, which I completed in August of 2022. It was such a wonderful experience that helped me understand just how much art and education are linked, along with the many different ways it can be taught. When I’m instructing, I love to use visual art as a way to encourage expression and educate people of all ages about how they can use their creativity in a way that works for them! My ultimate goal is to use my education and creativity as an artist to pursue a career in the museum sector. With that being said, instructing will always be a part of what I do, because I love sharing my passion with others!
