Masters of African-American Art
Thursdays, Feb. 6-27th 4-5:45pm
This month we will examine the art -and the history behind the art- of four innovative African-American artists. Faith Ringgold, Kehinde Wiley and Kara Walker are all living, well-established artists, and Romare Bearden was an artist during a time known as the Harlem Renaissance. We will create art inspired by these artists, and we'll also look at some of the most well-known poetry by Langston Hughes and Maya Angelou.
Please note that we do not aspire to have children create cookie-cutter art, or products where everyone's art all looks the same. Rather, we treasure the processes, the discoveries, and the moments of joy that creating art bring.
Children are welcome to bring a drink and small, non-messy after school snack if needed.
